Effective November 5, 2026 · Version 1 · Avelisse Labs LLC
This Privacy Policy explains how AveCalorie, provided by Avelisse Labs LLC (“Avelisse Labs,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), accesses, processes, stores, and protects information when you use the AveCalorie Android application. It applies only to AveCalorie. The general Avelisse Labs Privacy Policy applies to our website and other services.
AveCalorie stores the information you enter or save in Android app-private storage. Depending on the features you use, this may include:
AveCalorie does not currently require you to create an account. Android cloud backup and device-to-device extraction are disabled for the app’s private database, files, and preferences.
Camera: used only when you open barcode scanning or choose to photograph a meal. Barcode camera frames are analyzed on your device using Google ML Kit. AveCalorie does not continuously record video.
Photos: Android’s system photo picker lets you select a meal image without granting broad access to your photo library.
Notifications: used only if you enable reminders. You can revoke camera or notification access at any time through Android Settings.
Internet: required for AI analysis, nutrition lookup, subscription verification, ads for free users, and optional support actions.
AveCalorie uploads a meal photo only after you select or capture it, tap to analyze it, and accept the in-app upload disclosure. Before upload, the app crops and resizes the image to 500 × 500 pixels, re-encodes it as JPEG, and removes embedded image metadata. The resized image, meal category, and any portion context you provide are sent over HTTPS to the Avelisse Labs nutrition API and then to Google Gemini to estimate visible ingredients and portions.
Our backend processes uploaded image bytes for the active request and does not intentionally retain the photo after the request completes. Google’s processing is governed by its applicable service terms and privacy commitments. Do not upload images containing faces, documents, location clues, or other identifying information. AI results are estimates and must be reviewed and corrected before saving.
Ingredient search terms and selected food identifiers may be sent through the Avelisse Labs API to USDA FoodData Central to retrieve reference nutrition information. When you scan or enter a packaged-food barcode, the numeric barcode may be sent to Open Food Facts to retrieve product details, nutrition values, ingredients, and an available product image.
Food databases can be incomplete or inaccurate. You remain responsible for reviewing serving sizes, ingredients, and nutrition values before saving.
AveCalorie creates a random app-installation identifier. The Avelisse Labs API uses a one-way representation of that identifier, short-lived signed session tokens, request identifiers, rate-limit records, quota counters, subscription level, and—when enabled—Google Play Integrity results to secure the service, prevent abuse, apply free and paid limits, and avoid duplicate processing. Standard infrastructure logs may also contain an IP address, request time, response status, and limited device or request metadata needed for security and reliability. We do not include raw meal photos or health-profile entries in application analytics.
Google Play processes purchases, trials, renewals, cancellations, and payment information. RevenueCat helps AveCalorie present subscription products and verify access. Google Play and RevenueCat may process an app user identifier, product and offer identifiers, purchase and renewal status, transaction records, country or storefront, and limited device or diagnostic information. Avelisse Labs does not receive or store your full payment-card details.
The free version may show Google AdMob interstitial ads after a completed scan. Paid users do not receive these ads. Google’s User Messaging Platform is used where required to request and store advertising consent before ads are requested.
Depending on your region and choices, Google may process advertising or device identifiers, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, consent status, ad interactions, and diagnostic information. AveCalorie does not send your profile measurements, diary, weight history, meal photo, or AI nutrition result to Google for ad targeting. You can manage available ad privacy choices through the consent form, Android settings, and your Google account controls.
If you tap Report issue or Report AI result, AveCalorie opens an email or Android share flow that you control. The prepared report may include the app version, Android version, device manufacturer and model, request or analysis identifiers, the message shown, and the ingredient names or quantities you choose to report. You can review and edit the report before sending it. The app does not automatically attach your meal photo or profile information.
We use providers only as needed to operate the features described above:
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or our services, or as part of a corporate transaction subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not sell personal or sensitive information. We do not use health or nutrition information to build advertising profiles.
Local profile, diary, measurement, and settings data remains on your device until you delete entries, use the in-app deletion controls, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall AveCalorie. Exported CSV files and reports are retained wherever you choose to save or send them.
The backend does not intentionally retain uploaded meal-photo bytes after analysis. Successful request-deduplication records and their nutrition response may be retained for up to 90 days. Quota counters are retained for the applicable quota period and a short operational buffer. RevenueCat webhook event identifiers may be retained for up to 180 days to prevent duplicate processing. Security and infrastructure logs are retained under the applicable provider’s operational schedule.
You can choose not to use AI scanning, barcode lookup, reminders, support reporting, or optional advertising consent. You can edit or delete diary and weight entries, export supported data, use Delete All Local Data, clear AveCalorie storage through Android Settings, or uninstall the app.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection regarding personal information processed by Avelisse Labs. Contact us using the address below. We may need information sufficient to locate and verify the relevant installation or request records. Requests concerning Google, RevenueCat, USDA, or Open Food Facts may also be governed by those providers’ privacy procedures.
We use safeguards including Android app-private storage, disabled Android backup, HTTPS, bounded uploads, image re-encoding, short-lived signed sessions, access controls, rate limits, and server-side secret storage. No system is completely secure. Information may be processed in countries where our providers operate, subject to applicable legal and contractual safeguards.
AveCalorie’s biometric formulas and onboarding are intended for adults aged 18 and older, and the app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect a child’s personal information in violation of applicable law. AveCalorie is not a medical device. Calorie, macro, BMI, BMR, TDEE, barcode, weight-change, and AI meal results are estimates and are not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before making significant health or dietary decisions.
We may update this policy to reflect changes to AveCalorie, our providers, or applicable law. The effective date and version will be updated here. For privacy questions or requests, email support@avelisselabs.com.
